Entity name The LLC as registered with the state
Current agent Who is on record today
Incoming agent Name and in-state street address
Consent Some states require the incoming agent to sign
Effective date Immediately, or on a stated date

The order it happens in

  1. 01

    Line up the replacement first

    The state expects a continuous appointment. Arranging the incoming agent before filing avoids a gap.

  2. 02

    File the statement of change

    Filed with the state that holds the registration — separately for every state you are registered in.

  3. 03

    Check it took effect

    Confirm the change on the state record rather than assuming the filing went through.

  4. 04

    Close the old account

    Cancel the outgoing service after the record updates, not before.
